MIKA Project Partners has partnered with The Children’s Place (TCP) for nearly a decade, supporting its mission as Kansas City’s leading trauma-informed early childhood education program and counseling center. After nearly 30 years in its Brookside location, TCP outgrew its existing facility and required a new home to continue expanding its services and community impact.

The project included the renovation of approximately 45,000 square feet of a former charter school, and new expansion link connecting two structures. MIKA guided TCP through the purchase, renovation, and move-in phases, ensuring the project aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term operational needs.

The project scope included outdoor classrooms, a dedicated play area, a new kitchen and cafeteria, a secure bus drop-off, and expanded parking. MIKA Project Partners continues its partnership with TCP through Phase II renovations, which will add additional classroom and office space and enhance the playground to support the organization’s growing programs.
