Overview
Assisted the City of Joplin with administration of a $20 million federal grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to support revitalization efforts following the EF-5 tornado that devastated the community in 2011. Serving as Owner’s Representative, Michelle Kaiser, founder of MIKA Project Partners served as the Owner’s Representative
Site work began in September 2015, with construction commencing in early 2016, and the facility opened to the public in June 2017. The library serves as a model of modern library design and technology, featuring unique programming spaces such as MakerSpaces for young entrepreneurs, flexible event accommodations, and an outdoor learning center. The project earned the 2018 Building Excellence Award from the Kansas City Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.
